Year End Checklist
A practical guide to preparing for your year end
We’ve put together a short guide to help you prepare for your year end. Working through this list will give you confidence that your records are up to date and correct, and will save us time (and save you money) when it comes to preparing the year end accounts.
This list is suitable for us no matter what your year end date is - and if you’re not sure when your year end is, make that your first task.
Reconcile every bank account to your exact year end date.
Log in to HMRC and your pensions provider to check that you’ve correctly paid your contributions for the year and claimed Employment Allowance.
Check your details are up to date on the Charity Commission website (and/or Companies House if you are a company).
After you’ve reconciled to your year end date, go to your balance sheet and satisfy yourself that all of those balances are correct.
Check Profit and Loss/Financial Activity reports and make sure you’ve allocated things correctly to your restricted funds.
Gather documents needed in order to begin the accounts work.
Book in your accounts work as soon as you are ready.
