Tianhua Chai, Accounting Services Manager
I originally was born in China where I worked for over 20 years in management and accounting. I then came to the UK to join my husband (he works at the University of Nottingham) at the end of 1996. We have been in Nottingham ever since. Is Nottingham too attractive to leave? Perhaps.
My life here seems filled with a lot of interesting things: walking in countryside covered by lovely sunshine, taking photographs of amazing landscapes, growing flowers and also vegetables in our garden…of course, the majority of my time has been spent on accounts after joining CA Plus in 2000.
Apart from all this, another thing has been keeping me always busy. Guess what? – Study! Continuously acquiring accounting knowledge and computer skills, learning the English language and understanding the English culture, and so on. I said to my tutor when I was in the primary school that I would like to keep on studying for all my life as I really enjoyed it. Now nearly twelve years have passed. My hard working and study have borne some fruits. One of the proudest achievements is the fellow membership of AAT, which recognises my professional skills and experience in accounting, as well as the signatory for references on UK’s passport applications. In 2008 I was also admitted as a Fellow of the Association of Charity Independent Examiners. What’s next? Whatever it is, the learning process itself is helpful.
