I joined CA Plus at the beginning of 2001 looking for a career change after over 20 years working for a variety of electrical and mechanical engineering companies. I have to say I am enjoying this job much more than any other I have had previously in terms of job satisfaction. The reward of being able to make a difference and help all you groups and organisations out there is immense. 

So how did a qualified mechanical engineer who worked for many years in export sales travelling all over the world (Japan - Jordan, Korea - Kuwait) get a job as an employment advisor?

Long story, but basically export sales for a multi-national electrical engineering company led on to a Derby based mining engineering company, which due to the pit closures in the early 90's resulted, not surprisingly, in redundancy. This then prompted me to go back to University to do a post graduate Certificate in Management.

In turn this then led to export advisor with the Derby Chamber of Commence; which led to business advisor with Business Link Southern Derbyshire; to an employment consultant with a leading HR support company in Manchester; which led finally to CA Plus....phew. No wonder I only have a little hair left and thats gone grey!! Hence the hat.

I live in Derby with wife Jo, three children and two dogs.  My "pastime" is our Victorian house which we are renovating back to life after it previously being a care home for many years, interspersed with travel (yes I still have the travel bug) whenever I can.
